A Beautiful American Wedding at Waldhaus Flims: A Perfect Day in the Swiss Alps

I recently photographed a stunning American wedding at Waldhaus Flims, and it was an unforgettable experience. Held on a sunny Thursday, the day was full of unique moments, breathtaking views, and joyful celebrations. Here’s how it unfolded.

Getting Ready: Ice Baths and Champagne

The day began with a unique start—the groom’s creative way of cooling down. With temperatures rising, he called the Waldhaus Flims reception and requested buckets of ice. He then set up an ice bath to cool off before the ceremony. It was a fun, memorable moment that worked perfectly. If you’re looking for ways to stay cool on a hot wedding day, this might be worth trying!

Meanwhile, the bride and her friends got ready on the floor above. They opted for a more traditional approach with champagne and lots of laughter. Sometimes, sticking to classic traditions is the best way to enjoy those pre-wedding moments.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in the Waldhaus Flims Garden

The wedding ceremony took place outdoors in the beautiful garden at Waldhaus Flims. With the Swiss Alps and a local village as the backdrop, the setting was breathtaking. But what stood out most was the presence of family and friends who traveled from the United States. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, with loved ones gathered to witness this special day.

Sunset Portraits and Apero

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an apero in the garden. During this time, we captured some portrait photos of the couple. The timing couldn’t have been better. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden light—perfect for some beautiful shots. It was a peaceful moment, giving the couple a few quiet minutes together before the evening celebrations.

A Cozy Reception at Hotel Fidazerhof

After the apero, guests moved to Hotel Fidazerhof. This cozy venue welcomed them with another apero before dinner. During the meal, there were several wedding speeches. The groom’s mother’s speech was a standout. Originally from Japan, she spoke with such grace that you could have heard a pin drop. Some people have a natural ability to captivate a room, and she was definitely one of them.

Ending the Night with Dancing and Celebration

After the speeches, the party kicked off. It was great to see everyone hit the dance floor, from family to friends. The energy was contagious, and guests were clearly there to have a good time. There’s nothing quite like a packed dance floor to end a wedding on a high note.

A Perfect Way to Wrap Up the Year

This was my last wedding of the year, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out the season. From the unique ice bath moment to the heartfelt speeches and lively dance floor, this wedding at Waldhaus Flims was a day full of memorable moments.
