Wedding at St Charles Hall in Meggen

Stunning Wedding at St. Charles Hall, Meggen: A Day to Remember
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful wedding at St. Charles Hall in Meggen, and I must say, this venue lives up to its reputation. With its breathtaking views and elegant architecture, it’s no wonder St. Charles Hall has won awards for its stunning location.
Getting Ready at St. Charles Hall
The day began with the bride and groom getting ready in separate rooms upstairs at St. Charles Hall. As a wedding photographer, I always arrive early to scout the venue and find the perfect spots for portraits. Normally, it takes a bit of exploring to find the right setting, but this time, every room I stepped into was picture-perfect. Each space was more beautiful than the last, with natural light and elegant decor that made capturing those special moments effortless.
A Lucky Break in the Weather
The weather forecast had promised sunshine, but as I arrived at the venue, it was raining. With two hours until the outdoor wedding ceremony, the bride and groom had to decide whether to move the event indoors. They took a chance, and it paid off—the skies cleared, and we were treated to a stunning outdoor ceremony. It was a memorable event, made even more special by the fact that it was conducted in two languages, reflecting the couple’s diverse backgrounds.
A Fun and Spontaneous Apero by the Lake
After the ceremony, guests gathered for an apero to relax, chat, and enjoy the venue’s ambiance. Towards the end, we took a short walk down to the lake for some wedding portraits. A surprise awaited us there—some of the guests were swimming in the lake! It was a spontaneous and fun moment that perfectly captured the lively and active spirit of the group.
A Unique Twist on the Wedding Bouquet Toss
One of the highlights of the day was the bride’s unique take on the wedding bouquet toss. Instead of the traditional toss over her shoulder, she attached multiple ribbons to the bouquet. Each lady took hold of a ribbon and formed a circle around the bride. Then, using a pair of scissors, the bride cut the ribbons one by one until only one was left, and that person received the bouquet. It was a playful and creative twist on a classic tradition, and it was a big hit with the guests!
A Dinner Full of Laughter and Connection
The wedding dinner was delicious, and along with the meal, there were plenty of fun games. Wedding games can be a hit or miss, but this couple’s choices were perfect. One standout was a game involving a sheet with various statements, such as “You went to university with the bride or groom” or “You live in Zurich.” The hosts called out numbers, and the guests who matched stood up, leaving the couple to guess why those particular guests were on their feet. It was a clever way to get people moving, interacting, and learning more about each other.
A Sweet Ending with a Cake Buffet
No wedding is complete without a delicious cake, and this one had a cake buffet that was a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. The couple’s wedding cake was a standout, beautifully decorated and absolutely delicious. After everyone had indulged in dessert, the evening continued with a lively mix of dancing, drinks, and great music courtesy of a fantastic DJ.
