Amalfi Coast (Sorrento – Positano – Amalfi – Atrani – Ravello).
Today’s world has really opened up with all airlines that can take us around the world for relative affordable prices. Our generation is fortunate that we can see so many different countries and cultures – especially as a destination wedding photographer. After a few years of travelling then it easily happens that you start comparing places “Oh this view of switzerland reminds me a bit of the fjords in Norway”. When I got to Amalfi coast in Italy then I fell asleep when the bus left Sorrento and was heading to Amalfi via Positano. I woke up when the roads really started to twist and turn. What a view! I lost my breath for a second. Feels totally unique! I thought for myself “wow, what a job I got. I am here to document a wedding at such an amazing place”.
After I arrived to Amalfi coast I headed up to Ravello where the wedding was. I had an afternoon off so I walked down from Ravello to Atrani then to Amalfi. I took an hour walking down which mainly cosisted of stairs. What I foud amazing was that there were houses along the way – imagine when they buy a new sofa and they have to carry it to the house. They must have the strongest leg muscles in Italy!
For anyone planning to travel to Amalfi by public transport from Napels then it does require some research. The way I did it was to take the bus from the airport to the train station. There I took a train to Sorrento. I was told to go to platform 2 but when I couldnt find it then I was told “ah no, the other platform 2” – have patience. From Sorrento I took a bus to Amalfi. This took almost an hour. Then another bus up to Ravello. Ironically, the cost of travelling turned cheaper the longer the bus ride was. On the way back I decided to take a different route – I took the boat from Amalfi via Capri to Sorrento and then a direct bus to the airport. Much better option!
