Our favourite thing to do

A must see while in Zermatt is the view from the Gornergrat. Catch the Gornegrat Bahn up to the last stop then walk to the peak, from there you can see the Gorner Glacier and a view of more than 20 four thousand metre peaks, whose highest are Monte Rosa, Lyskamm, Matterhorn, Dom and Weisshorn. If you are feeling fit we suggest a hike down from Riffelberg.

Access to Zermatt

Located in southern Switzerland at an altitude of 1’600 metres and just a few hours from the international airports of Zurich, Geneva and Milano. It is easily accessible from western, northern or southern Europe. International rail connections (SBB) link up to Brig with the modern narrow-gauge Zermatt railway, which takes only 90 minutes to climb through the romantic, rugged Visp Valley.

Motorists can drive as far as Täsch, from where trains (shuttle trains run every 20 minutes) and minibus taxis operate a shuttle service for the remaining 4.8 km / 3 miles to Zermatt (Taxi Bolero 41 27 967 60 60). Parking facilities are available in Täsch, as well as in Visp for motorists wishing to continue by rail. It has a heliport, which is operated by Air Zermatt.
