Castello di Morcote caught Kara’s attention when she was looking for a venue in Europe. And I am not surprised. Kara and Jon live in Las Vegas (USA) but wanted to get married in Europe. Somehow she managed to find my blog which lead her to a blog post about castello di Morcote. Together with Diego from Eventopolis we managed to secure this lovely castle. I used to live in Morcote for 1.5 years and funnily enough this was going to be my first wedding in Morcote but by the time the wedding arrived I had moved to canton Zug. So initally my drive would have been 5 minutes to the location but now it was supposed to be 2 hours away. However, due to an accident on the way where I was completely still for 1hour and then forced to turn around – it took me 4.5 hours to get to the wedding. Luckily only 10minutes late (this is why one sets off early). Nevertheless, I usually arrive early and soak in the environment and prepare myself mentally. Now I arrived and started to shoot straight away. However, Kara and Jon were so chilled that it was very easy.
The wedding itself was one of the best I have attended – it was personal, the environment was incredibly beautiful, everyone dressed really stylish and everything was well organized.
Preparation took place at Splendide Hotel in Lugano and make up was done by Carolyn O’Neill. From there we drove to Vico Morcote and on top of that village we arrived to Castello di Morcote. The ceremony was outdoors (I love outdoor ceremonies!) and the apero/dinner at the castle. It was fantastic! Enjoy the photos! The wedding planning was done by “The Lake Como Wedding Planner“.
